USM Centennial

On March 30th the University of Southern Miss celebrates their dedication to the newly constructed Centennial Gateway. This historic entrance brought the University President Martha Saunders and members of the Centennial Celebration Steering Committee joined the campus and community leaders out to its dedication. The Centennial symbolize the heartfelt belief in the value of the University of Southern Miss.
The Centennial celebration is for the 100 years that the University of Southern Miss has been standing. Within those 100 years the campus Southern Miss has grown from being a local teaching college to a nationally-known school of higher learning that now educates thousands. For this momentous anniversary celebration the school came up with a theme which is, “A Treasured Past, A Golden Future.” Also for the Centennial, the University of Southern Miss has temporary display of the school’s memorabilia that was collected over the last 100 years. The collection included yearbooks, newspapers, athletic and arts memorabilia, plus never-before-seen photographs. All of these were dedicated to the Centennial of Southern Miss
